Words By Anselm Anderson Desert rock supergroup Stoner released their much-anticipated debut album Stoners Rule via Heavy Psych Sounds this past Friday (June 25th). The trio consists of Kyuss founders- vocalist/guitarist Brant Bjork and bassist Nick Olivieri are joined by drummer Ryan Gut. The seven-track EP was produced by Yosef Sanborn at The Red Cabin in Joshua Tree, CA in October 2020. The album combines a groovy guitar sound with punk and blues sensibilities. The album has a slow start that gradually descends into desert rock madness. The opener "Rad Stays Rad" sees Bjork's refined vocals glide over distorted groove-oriented riffs as the mid-tempo takes the listener away. Next up is the more uptempo "The Older Kids" sees the band share their wisdom over Gut's rhythmic drumming skills.
