Words by Anselm Anderson

These days, it's rare to find a Southern rock band like Oklahoma's Hillbilly Vegas, who blend American blues and country traditions without sounding plain, reminiscent of Seventies bands such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, Blackfoot, and Molly Hatchet. Led by vocalist Steve Harris since their formation in 2011.

Last Friday, the band released their new album "A La Mode" through independent label Quarto Valley Records, which focuses on Blues, Americana, Roots, and Jazz music. This release has many influences from Blues and Americana, as it explodes into memorable songs, slick riffs, and ol'school southern rock.

The band have steadily grown their fervent fanbase through raucous live shows and relatable lyrics. They have even toured with some of the genre's Renowned names such as s Blackberry Smoke, The Kentucky Headhunters, and Ted Nugent.

The album begins with "Miss America", a lively southern rock song with a catchy chorus. Next are the boogie blues tracks "Down the Honkytonk" and "Let it Ride", featuring strong blues riffs and soulful vocals that offer depth and warmth.

The opening tracks showcase the band's seventies influence, connecting with the audience through catchy solos, strong rhythms, and soulful vocals. The album includes powerful ballads like "Find Me Yesterday" and "Bound to Run," along with varied styles, such as the bluesy "Something Crazy" and "Feels Good." It feels like a gathering of old friends. Additionally, the album features a special guest appearance by Bad Company vocalist Paul Rodgers on "Mr. Midnight," where his soothing vocals complement the syncopated rhythms.

Overall, Hillbilly Vegas are a surprise find full of that southern rock charm

CoverArtwork Courtesy of San Pr Words Written by Anselm Anderson Today marks the final chapter of an emphatic trilogy by British Metalcore Heavyweights , Virtue in Vain . Nothing is All I Am ' is the third instalment exploring human emotions and psyche.  The trio began their journey in 2015 with their debut EP,  For All You Know is the Mask I Wore ,  focusing on the loss of identity, before 2019's   Dusk//Dawn looking at the consequences of a terrible night out, whilst 'Nothing is All I Am ' focuses on rebuilding a fractured mind. The trio of lead vocalist Hywel Thomas, guitarist Mason Williams, and drummer Daniel Bryant hail from South Wales deliver another dose of metalcore that hits like a sledgehammer to the head.
